Measles Community Spread Confirmed in Faulkner County-Vaccine Recommendations Updated
The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has confirmed documented community spread of measles in Faulkner County, prompting updated vaccine recommendations for residents of Faulkner and surrounding counties: Cleburne, Conway, Lonoke, Perry, Pulaski, Van Buren, and White.
Updated MMR Vaccine Guidance:
- Children ages 6–11 months: May receive an early “zero” dose of the MMR vaccine. This dose does not count toward the two-dose series typically given at:
- 12 months, and
- 4–6 years of age
- Anyone 12 months or older: Should complete a two-dose MMR vaccine series, with the second dose given at least 28 days after the first.
The ADH continues to update potential measles exposure locations across the state.
